Dr. Eric Murine
Dr. Eric Murine has quickly gained notoriety in both commercial and classical trumpet performance. He is the Lead trumpet player for the Trendells, and is a top-call artist for Events Productions, which has produced celebrated touring shows for artists like James Brown, The Commodores, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight, and Ray Charles. Holding degrees from Western Michigan University, Michigan State University and the University of Kentucky. Eric served as Interim Instructor of Trumpet at the University of Kentucky in 2009, and now teaches at colleges and various schools throughout the greater Lexington, Kentucky area.
As a respected educator, Eric earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kentucky in 2013, with an important dissertation for aspiring trumpet players. Dr. Murine's academic findings are now being edited into a reader-friendly book entitled "A Progressive Guide to Commercial Trumpet Playing". The book helps guide trumpet players through the understanding and application of techniques needed to perform well in commercial venues where diverse styles from jazz, blues, pop, funk, and similar non-traditional idioms are required. Whether performing or teaching, Eric has moved "to the front of the class".
Recently, Eric took charge as musical director of the new University of Kentucky group, The RocKats.
